Internet for Journalists

May 14 - Jun 22 2007, Hilversum, The Netherlands. This course is aimed at journalists who want to make better use of the internet both as a research tool and as a means of distributing information.

Event Details : The course will stress the power of the internet to deliver specific content to segmented audiences and thereby hold the attention of the audience in the face of growing competition.

Participants will come from the fields of print, television and radio journalism, and the organisers hope to take advantage of this diversity to focus on the multi-media nature of internet information delivery. Particular attention will be paid to three components of this multi-media environment :

- multimedia mix

- interactivity

- non-linearity

Through this course, organisers hope that participants « will acquire knowledge of the essentials of web-design (structure, interaction and lay-out) and skills for the development of websites and for production for the Internet, such as writing non-linear, interactive pieces, making graphics and producing sound and moving pictures. »

Registration Details :

Anyone working in or for the media, who can write and speak English, may apply. Preference, however, is given to applicants from developing countries, and people applying from one of these listed countries may apply for a Netherlands Fellowship Programme grant to cover the cost of the programme.

Deadline for RNTC applications is October 1 2006.

Deadline for NFP applications is January 1 2007.

Deadline for self-paying or sponsored applications is February 28 2007.
