- Ajayi Crowther University, Language and Communication Department

The Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo was established by the Supra Diocesan Board (West) of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), and has its origin in the defunct CMS Training Institution, Abeokuta and the defunct St. Andrews College, Oyo. The University started as CMS Training Institution in Abeokuta in 1853 from where it was relocated to Lagos from 1868 to 1896. In March 1896, it was transplanted to Oyo and acquired the name St. Andres College, Oyo retrospectively in 1920.

In 1977 Government took over the control and administration of all schools in the Federation and with this development the Church of Nigeria was divested of her proprietorship of the college. However, the St. Andrews College Old Boys Association (SACOBA) interest and by extension that of the Church, in the growth and development of St. Andrews did not wane. Thus, in response to SACOBA’s petition, the erstwhile Oyo State Government upgraded the Institution to NCE campus in 1980 and to the full fledged College of Education in 1985.

- Makau Polaris

Makau-Polaris is an information technology training institution which has opened its doors to students and other professionals in Lagos in 2008. Designed to be the first of its kind in Nigeria, the institute, with fully installed array of state-of-the-art IT equipment, admits both first level students and highly skilled professionals for its wide range of courses. The school, which has over 150 training slots, according to the design, is the first of such to offer a truly e-learning facility in Nigeria. Its first office was opened to customers at Isolo, Lagos, recently. The pace of completing a chosen course would depend largely on how much time an individual chose to put into studies, adding that the flexibility of the programmes allowed the individual to choose what was best for him. With a strategy, which focused mainly on IT training, the company was positioning itself as a leading provider of IT education and certification in Nigeria. Banking on its array of courses, which covers areas as wide as leadership development through sales empowerment, down to professional IT courses and basic computer appreciation, Makau Polaris is promising that new knowledge could be used in dealing with the trainees? everyday life situations. Workshops could be requested by organizations wishing to train their employees from Makau Polaris. All these come with the full complement of IT training materials. With its unique delivery of comprehensive IT education, covering several fields, the company, analysts believe, is the training provider for corporate organisations desiring to understand how new technologies are best applied to real life situations for better efficiency and maximum productivity.
