Journalists in Imo State will soon begin to enjoy free Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training courtesy of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri. The Institution’s Rector, Engr. Onyekwere Nwankwo said during a press briefing in Owerri that the decision of the management of the institution to embark on the one week free training was to make journalists in the state computer compliant because of the nature of their job. The Rector however declared that the management had stopped forthwith, the assessment of JAMB results through no other means than on line adding that the measure was to eliminate fraud. He therefore advised both students and parents to ensure they use ICT in the assessment of their admission into the institution. Speaking on the one week Information Communication Technology (ICT) training/workshop kicking off today at the institution, the rector disclosed that the ceremony would feature exhibition of art works produced by the students. The Rector said the ceremony would offer the institution the opportunity to showcase its own works to the people, stressing that in the past people’s works and knowledge were put in the dark. He expressed the hope that it would also be another opportunity to interact with many industrialists who would help them to develop.
